Shloshim/ Yartzheit
We are deeply grateful for the values that Granny Lil imparted to us. She had a strong sense of Jewish identity and a drive to give and to do good. Her integrity set the tone of the lives many of her descendants strive to live today. She taught us that if it's not quite right... then it's wrong. And she lived in the present - fully engaging in the sounds and sights, and most importanlty, the people around her, carrying herself with dignity and charm, and with full regard to all those in her ambit. We thank you for helping perpuate her goodness in the world by learning some mishnayot in her memory (mishna has the same root as neshama) and/or by taking on some mitzvot for the duration of the shloshim (and hopefully beyond). Note the tabs below to choose navigate to either mishnayot or mitzvot. We will try and complete some sedarim of mishna (we will open up 3 of the 6 first), but if we do not manage all of that, every word of Torah learning, and every mitzvah will accrue to her merit, as it is out of appreciation for her touching our lives - or by extension, the connection through her family to those of you who know us - that we are inspired to do these acts of growth and goodness. Although the period of shloshim for the mourners ends slightly earlier than the regular 30 days due to Pesach, we will set the would-be 30 days from the burial as our goal period. This ends at sunset on the 4th day of Pesach - 23 April 2019 / 18 Nissan 5779.
