It is a great honour for the departed soul when Torah is studied in its honour. For this reason, it is customary to study Mishna for the departed soul acquires merit through those who study Torah for its sake.

One of the fundamental reasons for learning the Mishna in memory of the deceased is because the soul and the Mishna are intrinsically entwined. The Hebrew words Mishna (study) and Neshama (soul) share the same letters and are therefore linked in a spiritual connection. Learning Mishna in honour of the departed soul has the ability to elevate the soul to a higher spiritual plane.

For this reason, we invite you to join us in studying in honour of our dearest Lorraine's soul. If you would like to join us, please choose 1 Mishna Tractate from the list below and enter your name next to it. The idea is to complete the study of that tractate by the target date, Lorraine's birthday, 21 January 2021.

We aim to have all 63 Tractates completed by this date, at which time we will arrange a Zoom gathering of all participants.

Please note that some Tractates are longer than others. If you would like to share a Tractate with another, please feel free to do so.
